Genesis 1 Amplified Bible
The Creation
1 In the beginning God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the
heavens and the earth.
26 Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image,
according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral
likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds
of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps
and crawls on the earth.”
27 So God created man in His own image, in the image
and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Befruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power];
and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living
thing that moves upon the earth.”
● GOD CREATED US IN HIS IMAGE … TO LOOK LIKE HIM
● ACCORDING TO HIS LIKENESS … SPIRITUALLY
[not physical, but a spiritual personality and
moral likeness]
PERSONALITY:
● the combination of characteristics or
qualities that form an individual's distinctive
character.
MORALITY:
● principles concerning the distinction between
right and wrong or good and bad behavior
● a particular system of values and principles of
conduct.
Genesis 2 Amplified Bible
The Creation of Man And Woman
7
then the Lord God formed [that is, created the body of] man from
the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the
man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit].
8 And theLord God planted a garden (oasis) in the east, in Eden (delight, land of
happiness); and He put the man whom He had formed (created) there.
15 So the Lord God took the man [He had made] and settled him in the Garden of
Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely (unconditionally)
eat [the fruit] from every tree of the garden;
17 but [only] from the tree of the knowledge (recognition) of good and evil you
shall not eat, otherwise on the day that you eat from it, you shall most certainly
die [because of your disobedience].”
● AFTER GOD CREATED OUR CORE, OUR SPIRIT, HE
FORMED THE BODY
● GOD GIVES US COMMANDMENTS TO KEEP US FROM DYING
● WE MUST ADHERE TO THE COMMANDS OF GOD ALWAYS!!!
Genesis 3 Amplified Bible
The Fall of Man
1 Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any
living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And [a]the serpent
(Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat
from any tree of the garden’?”
● THE ENEMY COMES AND TWISTS THE WORD OF GOD SO
AS TO STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY
● SATAN INTRODUCED DEATH WHEN GOD CREATED LIFE
Genesis 3 Amplified Bible
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the
trees of the garden,
3 except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the
garden. God said, ‘You shall not eat from it nor touch it, otherwise you will die.’”
4But the serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!
5 For God knows
that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened [that is, you will have
greater awareness], and you will be like God, knowing [the difference between]
good and evil.”
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and
that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise
and insightful, she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her
husband with her, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of the two of them were opened [that is, their awareness
increased], and they knew that they were naked; and they fastened fig leaves
together and made themselves coverings.
● SIN LOOKS VERY APPETIZING UNTIL IT FULFILLS
ITS PURPOSE WHICH IS DEATH
Genesis 3 Amplified Bible
7 Then the eyes of the two of them were opened
[that is, their awareness increased], and they knew that they were naked; and they
fastened fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool
[afternoon breeze] of the day, so the man and his wife hid and kept themselves
hidden from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
● WHEN ONE LIVES IN KNOWN SIN, THEY HIDE FROM THE
PRESENCE OF GOD
● YET GOD IS OMNIPRESENT … THERE IS NO HIDING
FROM THE ALL KNOWING GOD!
Genesis 5 Amplified Bible
Descendants of Adam
1 This is the book (the written record, the history) of the generations of [the
descendants of] Adam. When God created man, He made him in the likeness of God
[not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness].
2 He created them male and female, and blessed them and named them Mankind at
the time they were created.
3 When Adam had lived a hundred and thirty years, he became the father of
a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.
● BECAUSE MEN HAD BEEN SENT AWAY FROM THE
PRESENCE OF GOD, THEY BEGAN HAVING
DESCENDANTS ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN IMAGE
● GOD, IN THE BEGINNING CREATING MANKIND IN HIS
PERFECT IMAGE
● SIN INTRODUCED IMPERFECT CREATION … A
CREATION WITH A SINFUL NATURE
SIN
● An immoral act considered to be a
transgression against the divine law of God.
John Gill’s Exposition of the Bible
Genesis 5 Verse 3
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years,....
Not that he had no other children during this time than Cain
and Abel; this is only observed to show how old he was when
Seth was born.
The son here meant who was begotten in his own likeness,
after his image, not in the likeness and after the image of
God, in which Adam was created.
For having sinned, he lost that image, at least it was
greatly defaced and he came short of that glory of God and
could not convey it to his posterity; who are, and ever have
been conceived in sin and shapen in iniquity.
They were polluted and unclean, foolish and disobedient;
opposed to all that is good, and prone to all that is evil.
The sinful nature is conveyed by natural generation, but not
holiness and grace; that is not of blood nor of the will of
man or of the flesh but of God.
Holiness is produced by the will of God and His mighty
power! God impresses the image of His only Begotten Son in
regeneration on His people, which by beholding His glory,
they are more and more changed into by the Spirit of God.
● WE MUST ASK OURSELVES AS TO WHAT KIND OF CHILDREN
AND DESCENDANTS WE ARE PRODUCING!
● WHAT ARE WE TEACHING THE UPCOMING GENERATION?
● ARE WE UPHOLDING THE VALUES OF GOD?
● DO WE POSSESS THE PERSONALITY OF CHRIST JESUS?
● ARE WE WALKING IN MORALITY?
● ARE WE THE SPIRIT MANKIND THAT GOD CREATED IN THE
BEGINNING?
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE:
Isaiah 59 Amplified Bible
Separation from God
1
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short
That it cannot save,
Nor His ear so [a]impaired
That it cannot hear.
2
But your wickedness has separated you from your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
3
For your hands are defiled with blood
And your fingers with wickedness [with sin, with injustice, with wrongdoing];
Your lips have spoken lies,
Your tongue mutters wickedness.
12
For our transgressions are multiplied before You [O Lord],
And our sins testify against us;
For our transgressions are with us,
And we know and recognize our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]:
13
Rebelling against and denying the Lord,
Turning away from [following] our God,
Speaking oppression and revolt,
Conceiving and muttering from the heart lying words.
15
Yes, truth is missing;
And he who turns away from evil makes himself a prey.
Now the Lord saw it,
And it [c]displeased Him that there was no justice.
16
He saw that there was no man,
And was amazed that there was no one to intercede [on behalf of truth and right];
Therefore His own arm brought salvation to Him,
And His own righteousness sustained Him.
17
For He [the Lord] put on righteousness like a coat of armor,
And salvation like a helmet on His head;
He put on garments of vengeance for clothing
And covered Himself with zeal [and great love for His people] as a cloak.
20
“A Redeemer (Messiah) will come to Zion,
And to those in Jacob (Israel) who turn from transgression (sin),” declares the
Lord.
21
“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit which is upon
you [writing the law of God on the heart], and My words which I have put in your
mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouths of your [true,
spiritual] [e]children, nor from the mouth of your children’s children,” says the
Lord, “from now and forever.”
